Job overview
You will work as a qualified Entry Level Anatomical Pathology Technologist in the Trust Mortuary Services. You will be based at Conquest Hospital mortuary but will be expected to rotate between Conquest and Eastbourne Mortuary Departments. You will be proficient in the use of Mortuary and Post-mortem equipment, be competent in evisceration techniques, ensuring Standard Operating Procedures are followed, Quality Control and Quality Assurance is performed. Adhere to HTA guidance and other governing bodies.
Main duties of the job
Patient care including registration, release, post mortems, viewings and traceability. Cleanliness of the mortuary department and maintaining standards. Assist service users and ensure SOP's and policies are adhered to. Maintain relevant CPD. Maintain good working relations with other staff and users. Attend and participate in relevant meetings. Report incidents and issues. Act as a Fire warden, and highlight and comply with risks. Participate in the on call rota as required. Participate in forensic examinations.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent including Maths and English
- Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology (RSPH)
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of CPD
- HTA Consent training
- AAPT member
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a mortuary (NHS or Council)
- Experience of participating in post mortem examinations
- Exposure to deceased persons with traumatic injuries and those in various states of deterioration
Desirable criteria
- Experience of liaising with bereaved family members
- Experience of completing mortuary records, electronic and paper
- Experience of different reconstruction techniques
- Exposure to babies, children, young people
