Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Conquest Estates Department at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust as a Maintenance Craftsperson, working as part of the Estates Operational Team to support the day-to-day operational maintenance of the ESHT estate.

Are you an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer with plumbing / pipe fitting experience looking for your next challenge? If so, we would be delighted to hear from you.

We are seeking an individual who can deliver an organised, highly efficient service, demonstrates innovative thinking, and is confident in making decisions independently. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development and delivery of service improvements, helping to ensure the department is well positioned for the future.

You will have relevant knowledge and practical experience in a mechanical engineering or plumbing role and will have successfully completed a recognised mechanical or plumbing apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3) or an equivalent qualification.

Main duties of the job

To undertake diagnostic, repair, testing and preventive maintenance tasks which require specific training on the complex  building services, plant and equipment of a modern health estate as directed.

Undertake responsibilities of Competent Person as defined within Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) as appropriate and designated.

  • Completion of recognised Trade / CITB / EITB or EnTra apprenticeship
  • Relevant City and Guilds / BTEC ONC
  • At least 3 years other approved qualification and training to at least NVQ level 3 in an Electrical engineering discipline

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of complex NHS or equivalent building stock, its fabric, services, plant and equipment
