Job overview

This post will assist the maternity clinical governance team and clinical effectiveness team by providing day-to-day administrative support for patient safety and clinical governance. 

 

The administrator will play a key role in supporting and assisting the clinical risk and governance team in coordinating and supporting the complete range of quality governance activities, including the management of incidents and resulting actions, and assisting with the compilation of relevant reports.

Main duties of the job

To assist the clinical effectiveness and governance team  

Assist in validating databases with patient-level data.

Provide administrator support to the Maternity Quality and Safety Team & Maternity Guideline meetings. 

Work with the Maternity Risk Midwife and Governance Manager to assist in the maintenance of the Maternity Risk Register and incidents using RL Datix.

Provide administrative support in the investigation of adverse local incidents. 

To coordinate and arrange multi-disciplinary panel reviews for local and serious incident investigations within agreed timeframes.

To manage and maintain the local/trust investigation and Patient Safety Incident Investigations (PSII) database, providing a continuous overview of all open Maternity investigations.

Ensure local & PSI investigation action plan trackers are kept up to date and assist the Clinical Governance team in collating action plan evidence.

Assist with the collation and dissemination of relevant information between key groups    

To carry out general administrative duties 

Manage all failsafe systems

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Collate information for guidelines, audit, risk, governance and annual reports when required

To provide comprehensive administrative support to the complaint response processes, this includes maintaining a database 

To carry out general administrative duties 

Manage all failsafe systems used by the Clinical Governance Team including the maternity information system (BadgerNet) incident monitoring, clinical activity in relation to incident trigger list, failsafe for adverse neonatal and maternal outcomes and others

 

 

Person specification

Experience / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSEs (A-C) or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • Educated to at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of competency.
  • Diploma level or equivalent experience (relevant to role).
  • Work with spreadsheets and/ or databases and NHS medical records
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of computer systems, e.g. diary management and databases
