Job overview

This fixed term post will support two new exciting workforce development programmes which aim to upskill a cohort of nurses aspiring to become cancer nurses  and another cohort with existing experience in cancer care to develop as Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) across UHSx.

The novice programme will include the development of SACT skills and completion of the United Kingdom Oncology Nurse society (UKONS) SACT passport and the Fundamentals of Cancer Care Course. Support recruited nurses to gain experience working in the Cancer Division via a range of specialist services; Haematology & Oncology wards, SACT units, site specific CNS teams across UHSx as well as placements across the MDT cancer pathway to develop an understanding of all aspects of cancer management and care.

The CNS  programme will be working alongside our site specialist MDT Cancer teams, acute oncology and palliative care and CNS teams. This programme will help nurses to develop the skills needed to work in this highly specialist area, and will be underpinned by a MSc pathway.
