Medical Workforce Officer 

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to work as part of our team providing a medical staffing support service for the Medical and Dental staff within University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. 

If you would like to make a difference and gain invaluable knowledge and expand your skillset then we would love to hear from you. The post is based at Worthing Hospital with occasional travel to other UH Sussex sites

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting role which will suit an individual who has a passion for delivering excellent customer service, as well as a proven ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders. We are looking for someone who can work effectively in a busy team, utilising excellent IT, interpersonal and organisational skills to work collaboratively as part of a team. 

The role provides a comprehensive recruitment advisory and transaction administrative service to designated divisions for medical and dental positions to ensure that recruitment is undertaken in a timely and professional way. Through close working, liaison and negotiation with senior managers and clinicians, whilst having regard for cost, quality, customer service and Trust policy, this role is central to supporting the delivery of clinical care within the Trust.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good working and practical knowledge of a range of recruitment approaches and their appropriateness for specific needs
  • Up to date knowledge of recruitment employment law and requirements for pre-employment screening including immigration, references and DBS
  • Previous experience in an NHS HR or recruitment environment
  • Knowledge of NHS Employment Standards
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS terms and conditions for Medical Staff
  • Experience of working in Medical Workforce
  • Worked as a recruiter in a complex organisation

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Proven ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Packages; Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Able to plan, prioritise, implement and meet targets in a complex and pressure environment, whilst producing accurate work
  • Proven experience of successfully managing high volumes of work activity within challenging timescales
  • Proven ability to produce well-presented clear and accurate documents
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, negotiating and empathic skills
  • Experience of close working relationships with senior clinicians and senior managers

Freedom to Act

  • Works within HR policies and procedures, taking advice from Deputy Medical HR Managers as necessary, within recruitment work area, works on own initiative

Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a supervisor role
