University Hospitals Sussex (UHS) places immense value on its cancer pharmacy team, which has steadily grown in both strength and size over the years. We are delighted to announce an exceptional opportunity for a Lead Pharmacist Aseptic Services to join our well-established team of dedicated professionals at Worthing Hospital
This successful post holder will be accountable for the work of the Aseptic Service section of pharmacy and provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to all cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy within the Trust.
The chemotherapy production units at the Chichester and Worthing sites of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust provides around 2000 chemotherapy doses to patients per month. We have 2 busy units, led by a great pharmacy team who provide a safe, efficient and effective service to Cancer Services and other teams within the Trust
Our team comprises of Pharmacists, technicians, assistants and a senior manufacturing technician apprentice providing a chemotherapy, monoclonal antibody and immunotherapy within Worthing and Chichester.
With a dedication Education and Training Team within Aseptic Services, a band 7-8a progression post will also be considered for this role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Responsible for the provision of a pharmacy aseptic service to the staff of Worthing pharmacy department and cancer services.
Specific responsibilities include:
- To Lead and manage the aseptic unit service providing clinical, technical and training support to the aseptic service ensuring the health and safety of staff and patients.
- To act as the Accountable and Responsible Pharmacist for all work carried out under section 10 of the Medicines Act within the site specific Pharmacy Aseptic Unit.

Experience/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in Pharmacy at a British School of Pharmacy, or recognised equivalent
- A post graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy
- A UK registered pharmacist (Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council - Great Britain) with significant experience on the register, working in hospital pharmacy.
- Significant experience of working within a hospital pharmacy department post qualification, including experience in cancer services or aseptic services provision at least at a band 7 level.
- An understanding of clinical governance and the role of the pharmacist in the clinical governance agenda
Desirable criteria
- BOPA membership
- Registered Non-Medical Prescriber
- MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
- Management / leadership qualification
- Good Clinical Trial Practice (GCP) training
- Recent experience of managing and leading large scale and complex change projects
- Extensive portfolio and evidence of CPD with identifiable outcomes
- Knowledge of NHS strategy, policies
