Pharmacy Assistant Rotational – Band 2 (with Band 3 progression)
We are excited to invite applications from enthusiastic, motivated and adaptable pharmacy assistants with good communication and interpersonal skills to join our friendly, dedicated clinical pharmacy team. We will support you to progress your career and learn new skills.
Applicants must hold or be willing to work towards the NVQ level 2 qualification in Pharmacy service skills or equivalent.
Essential criteria for apprenticeship funding eligibility:
- Aged 16 or above
- Resident in the UK/EU for the last 3 years.
- Must hold a GCSE in Maths & English (Grade A*-C/9-5 OR functional skills in Maths and English
- Must not hold a Level 3 qualification or above in the same training subject
- Must not already be in any form of formal government funded education.
Main duties of the job
To provide assistance in the provision of pharmacy services throughout the Trust including assisting in the stock control of pharmaceuticals within the Pharmacy department; and ward areas provided with a pharmacy-based drug top-up service.
To perform routine pharmaceutical duties in accordance with set procedures.
To support the pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians at ward level.
To be a point of contact for healthcare professionals and pharmacy staff for stock issues and medicines transfer between care settings.
To supply stock controlled drugs to ward areas following completion relevant competency.
To act as a practice supervisor for designated trainees.

- Customer service experience
- Experience of working in a team
- Good level of literacy and numerical skills and ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a hospital pharmacy
- NVQ Level 2 in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
- 5 GCSE's at grade A*-C (including maths, english language and science)
