Job overview

There is an opportunity for an experienced clinician to become part of the senior leadership team in the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service.  The specific clinical area of responsibility will be oversight of the delivery of the  Children's Stammering services  across Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. 

 The successful post holder will have have an opportunity to influence how services are delivered to meet the needs of the population and support staff to work safely and efficiently.  The successful post holder will work closely with other Team Lead colleagues and  the Principal Therapist to continue to develop the service with a focus on patient centred care.

Agile and/or flexible working could be considered for this post. 

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a high quality, comprehensive service in line with the guidance of the Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, the Health and Care Professions Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. The paramount concern being the well-being of clients.
  • Take a lead role of an agreed stammering case load that includes assessment and treatment of specialist/wide ranging/complex patients/clients; maintaining associated records.
  • Day to day management of staff identified staff within the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Team
  • To maintain staff records on ESR and E Rostering
  • To make authorised payments for expenses and purchases for the service
  • To work in partnership with the Principal Therapist and deputise as required
  • To continue to demonstrate specialist clinical skills in practice and provide support and advice re the service development and the delivery of care in partnership with patients, relatives, staff, commissioners, managers, external agencies across  the agreed service area.
  • To continuously evaluate the level of clinical effectiveness by use of evidence based practice and outcome measures
  • Keep accurate and contemporaneous records in case note documentation in line with departmental and professional guidelines.
  • Coordinating the work of SLT’s working in a specific area of clinical specialism
