Pharmacy Stores Assistants
Band 2 - full time preferred but part time may be available
We are looking for a reliable, conscientious and practical applicant to join our team of staff working in our busy store, providing an efficient stock management and distribution service to all wards, departments and dispensaries.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision and direction of the Senior Pharmacy Assistants and Senior Pharmacy technician and be trained in checking deliveries against orders, correctly inputting stock into the pharmacy system and the robot. You will assemble the orders for all wards and the dispensaries and ensure they are ready for delivery according to the pre set timetable.
You will help with pharmacy deliveries and, if applicable, undertake the Trust driving assessment to be able to utilise the pharmacy transport to move stock around the site.
The pharmacy store is currently based at Castle Hill Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Receive all incoming pharmacy goods, checking that they are correct in identity, quantity and condition.
To be responsible for the assembly, labelling and safe packing of medicines for dispatch.
Ensure that all stock is rotated within pharmacy to minimise wastage
To monitor expiry dates and ensure effective stock rotation
Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the stores area and yard,
Maintain the availability, and label accordingly, the clinical and cardboard waste containers in order to comply with Trust policy.
Ensure all goods for return are labelled and documented in accordance with stores procedures to minimise wastage.
Maintain stores security and safe custody of pharmaceuticals
Participate in the delivery/collection of pharmaceuticals to and from other departments within the hospital to maximise a timely and accurate supply.
To assist with the filing of completed orders and other paperwork.
To be responsible with others for ensuring that designated storage areas and corridors are tidy and safe in accordance with Health, Safety and Fire regulations.
To participate in stock taking procedures and routine stock checks within the pharmacy store,
To be responsible for the movement of stock to or from designated storage areas within the Pharmacy Store.

Essential criteria
- Evidence of a good level of general education required i.e. Literate and numerate to the degree required for job description tasks (reading, writing, addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and simple calculations).
- Sufficient capability to complete Pharmacy training programmes required for the post and be completed within a maximum of 12 months.
- Ability to carry out instructions and recall.
