Perioperative Support Worker

Band 2

Job overview

Are you looking to work in a busy and developing environment of Theatres ?

We are currently looking to recruit a Perioperative Support Worker to work within the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust elective site, Castle Hill Hospital, supporting the Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery department.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate a dynamic approach to their work and who have commitment, drive and enthusiasm – you will be encouraged to work as part of a strong team and become involved in developing your own service.

As a perioperative support worker you will need to be prepared to work within a busy environment and we do expect staff to be flexible in their approach to cover for other specialities once trained.  As a teaching hospital, applicants should have a motivated approach to teaching junior members of staff.

Please note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore HUTH would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.

Main duties of the job

The role will include tasks such as collecting/returning patients to and from the ward, working in the operating theatres, supporting registered staff with patient cares, administrative tasks,  and completing patient documentation.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential.

Individuals must have a flexible attitude to working patterns to meet the service needs. There are various shift patterns covering the 24/7 period – although predominantly the work is during the day there is a requirement to participate in night and weekend working to cover acute service or weekend and on call provision for the elective site services .

Working for our organisation

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
