PART TIME/FLEXIBLE HOURS/JOB SHARE

We are seeking an experienced Physiotherapist/s with a keen interest and extensive experience in neurological disorders for a fixed term maternity backfill post.  

This fixed term role will suit Physiotherapist/s currently working at established Band 6 or at Band 7 level and keen to consolidate specialist clinical skills in this rewarding field.  

The successful applicant will be based in Castle Hill Hospital or Hull Royal Infirmary Therapies Centre, providing an out-patient service.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery and coordination of the neurology outpatient physiotherapy service. The service provides outpatient physiotherapy to individuals with neurological conditions living in the Hull and East Yorkshire areas. As a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist you will have advanced levels of clinical expertise in assessment and treatment of patients with neurological presentation.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the coordination, delivery and evaluation of the physiotherapy service provided to patients who access Neurology Outpatient Services. 

The post holder will be able to demonstrate specialised clinical skills, leadership, service development experience and delegation of work to therapy assistants, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

Support will be provided to enhance operational management skills and the post holder will contribute to service planning, development and teaching. As a Clinical Lead, the post holder will be a role model for their team and pride themselves on delivering high quality care and motivate their team to do the same.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To plan, co-ordinate, deliver and evaluate the physiotherapy service provided to patients requiring neurology related physiotherapy.

 To lead in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients presenting within the Neurology services, who may have complex, acute and /or chronic presentation; to provide a high standard of safe and effective care, to determine a clinical diagnosis and plan appropriate intervention, discharge plan and onward referral when required.

Supervise, educate and appraise therapists, therapy assistants, therapy students, and other members of the multidisciplinary (MDT) team related to the clinical specialism.

Undertake a lead role in the completion of clinical audit, quality improvement and clinical research.

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Physio or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • Accredited student educator
Desirable criteria
  • Post grad training / Qualification in relevant topics
  • Post graduate qualification / experience in leadership

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to demonstrate significant consolidated clinical experience at senior level in acute specialties
  • Able to work alone and as part of a team
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical experience in specialist setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Must possess advanced verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage highly complex caseload
  • Ability to analyse, select and apply appropriate physiotherapy interventions from a range of modalities
  • Evidence of improvements in practice
  • Ability to monitor and manage the performance of staff within the team
