We are excited to welcome a clinical psychologist to our dynamic Long Term Health conditions Team.
As a crucial member of our multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to triaging, assessing, and supporting children.
The successful candidate will need to be adaptable and have strong engagement skills, excellent communication skills and some experience of working and collaborating with highly skilled and passionate experts, including nurses, clinical psychologists, allied health professionals, and psychiatrists. Successful applicants will have opportunities for professional development and the potential for progression within our trust.

We welcome the application of trainee clinical/ counselling psychologists are expected to qualify shortly. If successful in being appointed terms will be adapted.
Main duties of the job
Provide a range of specialist clinical psychological advice, assessment and interventions
Develops and maintains the service user’s control over decision making, assess the service user’s commitment to the jointly determined plan of treatment, and fosters personal responsibility for health and well-being

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion
- Advanced/expert understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
- Knowledge of and experience in the use of a wide range of psychometric and other objective assessment tools as applied in neurodevelopmental and mental health work and across the ability range
- Skills in co-ordinating programmes of care, and providing consultation and specialist advice to other professional and non-professional groups
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, and application of this to research and development activity within the service area
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of policy implementation and development
- Broadly based knowledge of the theory and practice of assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions and advanced psychological therapies for the treatment of children and young people with complex neurodevelopmental and mental health needs
- Knowledge of policy and psychological theory relating to people with intellectual disability, neurodevelopmental presentations and associated complex behavioural and mental health needs.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology or its equivalent
- Clinical supervision training for doctoral trainees
Desirable criteria
- Post-doctoral training in one or more specialised areas of psychological practice
- Breakaway training or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in working with Children with Long Term Health Conditions
Communication
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate ability to communicate complex information using a range of interpersonal skills
- Experience working collaboratively as part of an MDT
- Experience communicating psychological formulations to professionals and patients/carers
Desirable criteria
- Ability to teach and train others using a variety of multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.
