We would like to invite registered Occupational Therapists/Speech and Language Therapists to become an Advanced Practitioner Autism and ADHD Diagnostician in our dynamic Neurodiversity Services.
Please note the role is for 2 days a week and will be mainly clinic based.
As a crucial member of our multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to assessing, and supporting children with neurodevelopmental conditions.
The successful candidate will need to be adaptable and have strong engagement skills, excellent communication skills and experience of working and collaborating with highly skilled and passionate experts, including nurses, clinical psychologists, allied health professionals, and psychiatrists.

Main duties of the job
- To practice autonomously without direct supervision.
- To utilise advanced clinical skills to assess, diagnose, treat and refer patients requiring the clinical service
- To recognise the need for, initiate and where appropriate interpret
relevant diagnostic investigations. - To recognise the need for and initiate where appropriate advice of relevant specialisms.
- To demonstrate advanced clinical skills in ASD and/or ADHD assessments and provide leadership, training and supervision of staff undertaking assessments as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
- To liaise closely with other members of the MDT to ensure a detailed and complete diagnostic assessment is completed in line with NICE guidance, demonstrating skill and confidence in identifying the need for further specialist in person assessment.
- Act as lead senior practitioner to provide clinical/managerial leadership for the team in the absence of other senior team members
- Be responsible for ensuring clinical outcome data is appropriately collated and routinely recorded to the Trust and professional clinical regulatory body standards
- To employ excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to promote multi-disciplinary and interagency liaison and collaborative practice to broad range of audiences, including other professionals and service users

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation and guidance relevant to working with autistic adults.
- Full understanding / application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within Occupational therapy, Nursing, Speech and Language Therapy or Clinical Psychology..
- Evidence of undertaking audits / surveys
Desirable criteria
- Member of specialist interest group/network, regionally or nationally
- Good working knowledge of relevant IT systems to own area of work
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of sound post-registration professional practice
- Demonstrable experience of working in the designated field – Autism assessment, diagnosis and intervention
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to Occupational therapy, Nursing, Speech and Language Therapy or Clinical Psychology to advanced level e.g. Masters/post-graduate diploma and equivalent knowledge / experiential learning
- Leadership/management experience which has had a positive impact and created change within the service delivery/practice
- Professional networking regionally and nationally
Desirable criteria
- Proven leadership/management experience, able to demonstrate examples of positive impact / change within service delivery / practice at an advanced / expert level
- Experience of developing others through education, mentorship, coaching, teaching, assessing, presentations, publishing
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current HCPC registration
- Additional training related to clinical field/demonstrates interest in Neurodiversity.
Desirable criteria
- Advanced / expert clinical qualification
- Prepared to undertake or hold an accredited leadership qualification
- Student learning in Practice (SLIP) qualification or Apple accredited.
Effort and environment
Essential criteria
- Ability to effectively use telehealth to conduct diagnostic assessment and use virtual conferencing to maintain clear lines of communication with the MDT.

- Effective inter-personal skills and experience in supervising and mentoring and teaching
- Good time management skills
- Ability to lead/motivate staff to embrace change
Desirable criteria
- Able to demonstrate effective communication skills at all levels i.e. strategically and locally
- Be able to demonstrate leadership / management skills at an advanced level
