Job overview

This is a great opportunity to build your skills in social care while supporting unpaid carers to access the help they need.

You’ll join the Carers Information & Support Service, a friendly and committed team that works closely with carers, families and partner organisations. Your work will help carers feel heard, supported and able to manage their caring role with confidence.

Main duties of the job

Working with the Carers Information and Support Service, you’ll support unpaid carers by completing assessments and planning the help they need to stay well. You’ll work closely with colleagues and partners to make sure carers receive timely, coordinated support that reflects their goals and day‑to‑day needs.
You’ll join a supportive team who value kindness, respect and collaboration. Together, you’ll help carers feel listened to and in control of their caring role.

What you’ll do:
  • Carry out high‑quality assessments with unpaid carers to understand their needs
  • Provide advice, guidance and emotional support to carers and their families
  • Manage a varied caseload and plan support that meets individual needs
  • Work closely with other professionals and agencies to ensure carers receive joined‑up care
  • Keep clear, accurate records and contribute to safe, effective service delivery
What we’re looking for:
  • A qualified social worker registered with the relevant professional body
  • Experience supporting people through assessment, planning or case management
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build respectful, trusting relationships
  • Confidence working with partners across health, social care or community settings
  • A compassionate approach and willingness to learn; we welcome a range of backgrounds
