Job overview

This is a great opportunity to build your leadership skills while helping people stay healthy and safe at work.

You’ll join the OccWellbeing team, working closely with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver a high‑quality Occupational Health service. Your role will support staff, managers and partners by offering clear clinical guidance and by leading a team who provide assessments, advice and workplace health programmes. You’ll help shape services that protect wellbeing and support people to thrive in their roles.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and support the clinical team through supervision, coaching and day‑to‑day guidance
  • Provide specialist Occupational Health assessments and clear management plans
  • Deliver health surveillance, immunisation and screening programmes
  • Work with partners to ensure safe, effective and evidence‑based services
  • Contribute to service development, audit and governance to drive continuous improvement

 

Main duties of the job

What we’re looking for: You’ll be a Registered Nurse with a recognised Occupational Health qualification. You might have experience in workplace health, assessment, immunisation, health surveillance or supporting staff with adjustments. We welcome people who can lead others, communicate clearly and work well with different partners. You’ll receive support, supervision and opportunities to keep developing your skills.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse
  • Occupational Health Degree/Diploma SCPHN part 3 of NMC Register
  • MSc in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing: Occupational Health Nursing or relevant subject or demonstrable equivalent experience in specialist area of practice.
Desirable criteria
  • NEBOSH/IOSH Health and Safety at Work Qualification Level 2
  • Health Promotion/Teaching Qualification
  • Leadership /Management qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Supervision / Coaching Model
  • Occupational Health knowledge and understanding of diseases and ill health arising from the working environment
  • Quality & Governance issues, in detail understanding of clinical governance, audit and clinical effectiveness and their application to occupational health
  • Continuing professional development / training in the field of Occupational Health
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of professional accountability in the scope of professional practice

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant demonstrable and recent experience in Occupational Health
  • Current immunisation training
  • Experience of undertaking audit or nurse research
  • Experience of working within industry
  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Health surveillance experience
  • Assessment, planning and communicating adjustments (both written and verbal) required in the work where patients are unable to complete their role due to illness or disability.
  • Contributing to SEQOSH accreditation
  • Experience of supervising staff
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing a team
