Locum Consultant Cardiologist in Heart Failure

Locum Consultant

Job overview

The cardiology department is staffed with energetic, forward-looking cardiologists, and we’re looking for someone similar to join our team. You will work for HUTH in a purpose-built £28 million Heart Centre which includes 4 cardiac catheter labs equipped with GE Inova 2100 imaging systems, dedicated short stay and in-patient wards. The centre includes the cardiology outpatient and diagnostic departments, 3 cardiothoracic operating theatres and intensive care, high observation and cardiothoracic surgery beds. We receive invaluable support of our highly experienced set of cardiac physiologists across both trusts.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a commitment to supporting the regional heart failure service. We would welcome applicants with additional expertise in either imaging or device implantation. This ia a fixed term appointment and attracts 10 PA’s. Activity will be divided between Castle Hill Hospital and NLAG. In addition, there will be 8 weeks per year working as consultant cardiologist of the week (for general cardiology).

Working for our organisation

Hull University Teaching Hospitals is part of one of the largest acute and community Group arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) - our Group has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites, are Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH and Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLaG.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Group and our community.

Should we receive a high volume of applications the advert may be closed earlier than stated. To view a full job description and person specification please see attachments on this advert.
