Yorkshire Cancer Research and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust have come together to embark on an exciting programme to transform and improve the outcome of people recently diagnosed with cancer. The rehabilitation programme will be delivered from a purpose built facility in Hull city centre to help people with cancer prepare for and recover from treatment quickly and maintain healthy lifestyle after their cancer diagnosis.
Reporting to the AHP Operational Manager, the Clinical Lead Dietitian will be responsible for leading the delivery of the nutrition and dietetic element of the Active Together programme. The post holder will be an experienced expert autonomous practitioner, performing complex nutritional assessments and developing, implementing and evaluating dietetic care. Working collaboratively to deliver a multidisciplinary, inclusive and responsive service, ensuring service excellence and responding to service user diversity.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as an expert professional and will provide advice and knowledge on appropriate nutritional interventions for symptom control and disease management for patients with a cancer diagnosis.
You will use highly specialist dietetic knowledge to undertake nutritional assessment and treatment of patients who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, determining clinical diagnosis and the dietetic treatment.
To work closely with other members of multidisciplinary teams (MDT) and assist the Active Together management team by reporting into MDT meetings to ensure the provision of a high quality service.
To provide support and supervision to junior dietitians acting as a preceptor as well as providing support to dietetic learners and other non registered department members as required.
