Job overview
You will be operational site lead for pharmacy services and the managerial lead for pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants within the department of pharmacy and responsible for the day to day delivery of safe patient care, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to meet demand including organizing, managing, supervising and at times participating in the workload, assessing the service using audits or performance indicators, resolving any problems relating to medication and supervising the staff to ensure that the service provided is safe, efficient and effective
Main duties of the job
You will work with the Chief Pharmacy technician and support them in meeting the performance targets of the department, particularly expenditure targets, cost control, quality and activity targets
You will work with the Chief Pharmacy technician and Pharmacy Technician Team Managers in workforce planning, reviewing workflow and practises to meet demand on a daily and weekly basis
You will be responsible for the management of pharmacy technicians , pharmacy assistants and pre-registration trainees at base and across site
You will establish and maintain effective communication with all members of the Pharmacy Team and the wider multi-disciplinary teams within the Trust. To cascade the information to pharmacy staff and implement at short notice any necessary adjustments to the working practices required to support the Trust with managing the bed pressure situation in an efficient and effective manner. This may result in challenges from the Pharmacy staff e.g. the change in practice/hours worked
Acting as a resource for those seeking specialist operational knowledge and experience within the pharmacy department and hospital site.
You will be responsible for identifying bottlenecks and blockages in the systems and taking remedial action
You will ensure the electronic roster and electronic staff records are kept up to date and are reviewed regularly to ensure changes are implemented

Essential criteria
- • Educated to degree level with Master’s Degree in Management or equivalent in-depth experience •
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician •
- Project Management experience
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Assessor
- Leadership qualification at foundation level
Experience
Essential criteria
- In depth experience of hospital pharmacy operational management across a range of areas
- Operational experience as a manager in the NHS
- Experience of managing a wide range of HR issues
Communication
Essential criteria
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to motivate, influence, inspire and encourage different ways of working with a drive to develop pharmacy services
