Job overview

Exciting Opportunity

Part time Senior Physiotherapist

Hull University Teaching Hospitals are working in collaboration with Yorkshire Cancer Research to deliver the Active Together programme to patients diagnosed locally with curative cancer.

This is a 5 year deliver programme that is entering its second year at the beginning of 2027

We require self-motivated, dynamic clinicians who are stimulated by challenge and are looking for the opportunity to improve their skills at a senior level. It is expected that you will have completed your core rotations as a band 5 and ideally,  have had experience and an interest in working with cancer and oncology care.

As a Senior Physiotherapist, the post holder will be a role model for their team and pride themselves on delivering high quality care and motivate their team to do the same. Support will be provided to enhance operational management skills and contributions to service planning, development and teaching.

Main duties of the job

To deliver a structured programme of prehabilitation and rehabilitation as a MDT to help patients to optimise their physical activity levels during and after cancer treatment.

The aim of the programme is to optimise patients preparedness for treatment during the prehabilitation phase and facilitate patients recovery and rehabilitation post cancer treatment.

The type and level of support patients receive is based upon a detailed assessment of need at various touch points throughout a patient's cancer journey

Integral to the delivery of this programme is the provision of data aligned to the research element which is being led by Sheffield Hallam University.

Working for our organisation

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
