We are mainly based on the Hull Royal Infirmary (HRI) site with inpatient beds on Ward 70 which also houses General Medical inpatient beds. We have outpatient clinics at HRI and also at Castle Hill Hospital and East Riding Community Hospital, Beverley. We see a total outpatient volume of over 14,000 spread across the sites with specialist clinics that include MSK ultrasound, Early Arthritis and Connective Tissue Disease. We also run multi-specialty clinics with Respiratory Medicine, Ophthalmology and Plastic Surgery.

We have close working relationships with all general medical services as well as the Departments of Radiology, Orthopaedic surgery, Paediatrics, Neurology, Academic Chest Medicine, Ophthalmology and Immunology. We hold several multi-specialty clinics and multidisciplinary meetings which ensure the delivery of high quality effective and safe care. The department provides general rheumatology care, and is a centre for providing specialized rheumatology services.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You will provide Rheumatology Services to a population of about 500,000 with an extended catchment area of up to 1.2million. We provide inpatient specialist rheumatology care for complex conditions and receive referrals from other specialties across the Trust. There is a weekly MSK MDT, monthly early arthritis MDT and a monthly vasculitis MDT. This post is designed to support the continued development and delivery of rheumatology general and specialized services and includes contributions to general internal medicine. Contributions to the GIM ward rounds will be deemed an essential part of this role. We would be delighted to support you with any subspecialty interests. The Trust has a Medical Day Unit where 1155 rheumatology patients per year attend for treatment. The Department admits about 180 rheumatology inpatients a year. You will have continuing responsibility for patients in your care and to support the functioning of the department. You will be a team player and provide on a reciprocal basis, emergency cover for colleagues during periods of absence. You will carry out teaching duties as required and take an active part in the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education programme. These include the teaching of junior medical staff as well as the education of nursing staff, general practitioners and other clinical staff. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
