Employer heading
Clinical Fellow Rheumatology (ST3/IMT3 level equivalent)
NHS Medical & Dental: Specialty Trainee (ST3-5)
Job overview
The Rheumatology department provides patient care for the full range of general rheumatological conditions including complex MSK disorders and inflammatory arthritides. It is also a regional specialized centre for patients with complex inflammatory disorders such as autoimmune connective tissue diseases and vasculitides.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly motivated and forward thinking team. The post is primarily designed for doctors who are interested in a career in rheumatology and/or general internal medicine. The post-holder will join an existing team of trainees to provide in-patient care for general medical patients and rheumatology patients with complex conditions.
You will be provided with experience of out-patient rheumatology (including early inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune connective tissue disease and vasculitis clinics). You will work with senior colleagues who have expertise across the full range of complex rheumatology conditions and you will have the opportunity to participate in the multi-disciplinary team meetings.
There are excellent opportunities to develop clinical and procedural skills in both general internal medicine and rheumatology. You will be supported to enhance your professional skills in teaching, leadership, quality improvement and research. You will also be encouraged to undertake an impactful improvement project.
Main duties of the job
During clinical work the post holder will, at all times, be under the supervision of a named Consultant. The nature of any clinical supervision would largely be determined by a combination of the post holder’s established clinical abilities and the degree of difficulty in any given clinical situation.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.
As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
