Job overview
The Community Team for Learning Disabilities are looking to recruit a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our team. If you are passionate about making a difference to people’s lives and have proven experience in providing physiotherapy to people with a Learning Disability or other populations with complex needs, we would welcome an application from you. The post will be based at Townend Court in Hull and we cover a geographical area of both Hull and East Riding.
We are a well-established small team of friendly, motivated and committed individuals. You will receive regular individual supervision, CPD, training and support within the role to help transfer your skills and develop competencies in this specialist field.
For this role you must have the ability to commute effectively across the geographical patch.
Main duties of the job
- Manage a caseload of service users with complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions to treat and manage a range of conditions or physiotherapy related needs and enhance quality of life for clients.
- Use standardised and non-standardised assessments to ascertain patients care needs and inform intervention.
- Assess for and prescribe appropriate equipment.
- Contribute to the wider MDT working and interventions such as positive behavioural support.
- Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Physiotherapy Services. Provide outcomes for the service and service users by using agreed tools/assessments.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Physiotherapy within the Trust. Ensure Physiotherapy provision is delivered in accordance with HCPC and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) requirements.
- Provide supervision for junior and non-registered staff.

- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Higher level qualification eg Masters
Experience

- Experience of working with people with a Learning Disability
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Experience of service development / audit relating to quality improvement
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of key policy and guidance for LD health services
- Knowledge of Physiotherapy practice applied to the area of LD
Desirable criteria
- Member of a relevant special interest group or network
- Experience of using systm one
