The Child Health Information Assistant provides administrative and data support within the Child Health Information Service (CHIS) across Hull, East Riding and Northeast Lincolnshire. The post holder is responsible for accurately inputting, updating and maintaining child health records to support national child health programmes, including immunisations and screening.
Working as part of a team, the role involves processing registrations, managing correspondence, responding to routine enquiries from healthcare professionals and parents/carers.
The post holder will ensure high standards of data quality, confidentiality and information governance, contributing to the effective delivery of child health services and improved outcomes for children and young people.
Main duties of the job
- Accurately input, update and maintain child health records on electronic information systems
- Process new birth notifications, GP registrations and demographic updates in line with local procedures.
- Support the administration of national child health programmes, including immunisation and screening call and recall systems.
- Validate and check data to ensure accuracy, completeness and data quality standards are met.
- Prepare and distribute routine correspondence to parents/carers and healthcare professionals.
- Respond to routine telephone and email enquiries, escalating queries where appropriate.
- File, scan and securely store documentation in accordance with NHS information governance policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all time.
- Work to standard operating procedures and established guidelines.
- Prioritise own workload to meet deadlines within a busy office environment.
- Support the wider CHIS team with general administrative duties as required.
- Report any data discrepancies or safeguarding concerns in line with organisational policy.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- 2 GCSEs/O levels English and Maths
- Advanced keyboard skills e.g. RSA/OCR, ICDL, OR demonstrable experience within A&C field at standard level
- To have some knowledge of office procedures, clerical/reception work.
- Literate and numerate
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in the operation and use of Microsoft Office products
- Effective organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, some of which are non-routine and are acquired through formal training or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Trust IT systems e.g.Lorenzo or S1 as appropriate to work area
- Experience of working in an office environment
