Job overview
EPUT and MSEFT are embarking on the implementation of a UK first of type Unified Electronic Patient Record (UEPR) system that spans Acute, Mental Health and Community services. The new system will be delivered through the Nova Programme, alongside our commercial partners for this significant transformative journey.

We have exciting opportunities to join the Nova programme in the role of Senior DBA and to be part of our mission and successful delivery of the programme.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision, management and deployment of all electronic, forms and processes and be responsible for the management of the data within the respective systems. The post holder is responsible for achieving the KPI’s identified for the Patient System Development Team.
The post holder is responsible for working closely with internal and external customers across a variety of levels, as well as external suppliers, as appropriate. The post holder will, as experts in their field, be expected to assist and form part of the Trust’s support team.
Main duties of the job
· Responsible for a team of SQL developers ensuring all daily targets and timescales are met
· Responsible for Identifying, developing and implementing both own and teams appropriate education, training and development programmes to support the implementation and integration of strategy/programme to sustain long term success.
· To be an authorised signatory to order stock and stationery, travel / mileage, etc.
· Ensure collaborative working and the use of management of change processes to overcome resistance to change and ensure successful outcomes.
· To work as an effective member of the Trust’s Technical Project Team, contributing to the business of the Trust, and assisting to ensure that the team achieves its duties.
· To assist with the development of partnership working and user involvement within services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· To manage staff, ensuring all mandatory training, supervision, appraisals, sickness reviews, annual leave is carried out in line with the trusts requirements.
· Responsible for the management, development, training and implementation of the Patient Summary Database Team
· To ensure the IT systems, with the assistance of the Head of Service, are fit for purpose initiating any necessary developments to ensure their continued reliability
· Responsible for helping and supporting others in the development, deployment and training of systems required within the team.
· Responsible for ensuring the patient experience is continually improved, and clinical care is not compromised via the systems.
COMMUNICATION
To collaborate with the Head of Service and external contractors as and when appropriate, in reviewing and implementing new technologies to ensure that these new electronic technical services are fit for the business needs.
To consult with, and advise where appropriate, on the design of any significant extension to, or changes and / or modifications of, the Trust's electronic technical project services including Dashboard designing.
To represent the team / department and presenting complex data in a clear and concise way according to your audience.
Communicate highly detailed Technical information using highest level interpersonal skills to overcome barriers to understanding and acceptance.
Overcoming barriers to communication due to working remotely from technical system suppliers.
Working closely with colleagues to identify and implement the most appropriate solutions to problems.
Actively partaking in the sharing of technical knowledge and best practice within the department, including presenting of ideas and partaking in robust debates. Resolving conflicts, confrontations, and disagreements positively and constructively.
Giving timely and specific feedback on what has been done well and where there is room for improvement through participation in retrospectives and taking responsibility for actions in order to improve processes and ways of working.

Education
Essential criteria
- Qualification in the use of SQL, or relevant proven exceptional experience
- A degree in IT or appropriate relevant experience
Desirable criteria
- AS level or equivalent in computing and information and communication technology
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to deliver advanced solutions through Microsoft Excel
- Excellent understanding of translating business requirements into specialist functional specifications for IT systems
- Knowledge of The Trusts infrastructure
- Advanced IT skills, database/spreadsheet applications, MS Excel/Word and Powerpoint
- Considerable experience in the interrogation, design and maintenance of large databases and systems Extensive experience with EPUT and NHS Patient Systems
- Proven capability in utilising SQL scripts and SSIS packages to update databases on the server
- Experience of developing and maintaining supportive relationships with a range of professionals, suppliers and stakeholders (internal/external)
Desirable criteria
- Familiarity with Data Centre operating standards and specifications
