Job overview

As a vital member of the Tertiary Cardiology team within the Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC), you will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of the department. Your duties will include booking new and follow-up appointments, managing clinic templates, and maintaining partial booking lists to support the effective delivery of care.

You will take ownership of processing referrals, ensuring patient data is accurately recorded and appointments are scheduled in line with service needs. You'll also be responsible for coordinating patient details and maintaining up-to-date information on their progress to support the 18-week Referral to Treatment (RTT) target.

In addition to your core responsibilities, you will provide flexible administrative support across Cardiology and the CTC, adapting to the needs of the service and contributing to a high-quality, patient-focused environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will take responsibility for:

Ensuring all referrals are received and accurately recorded.

Booking Clinics, organising clinic listings and maintaining clinic templates.

Assisting with the co-ordinating of the day stay lists to ensure the smooth admission of elective and non-elective patients.

Accurately maintaining the EPR waiting lists according to RTT guidelines and updating the team regularly on the waiting times.

Booking patients into clinics and pre-assessments as required. 

Sending and receiving inter hospital transfers and arranging transport and/or interpreters.

Answering phone calls and emails and transferring to the appropriate professional.

Data collection and minute taking for the service.

Any other duties consistent with the post.

  • GCSE in Maths & English, NVQ3 or equivalent experience.

  • Customer service qualification or equivalent experience
