An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking Lead Clinical Endoscopist within the Mid & South Essex University Endoscopy departments.
As a Lead Clinical Endoscopist, you will be already experienced in working within endoscopy services and have a sound clinical management background, already display independent practice and be UGI & LGI trained with significant evidence of clinical practice. By working in collaboration with medical and nursing colleagues in other specialities, including anaesthetics, interventional radiology, infection control, cancer services, medicine and surgical services, you will demonstrably improve the care and outcomes for patients by providing expert clinical and nursing leadership for the further development of the service.
You will be expected to lead the clinical endoscopist team, influence and support national, regional and local strategy in relation to endoscopy services and will represent at Trust wide clinical meetings.
You will also be fundamental in supporting endoscopy training delivered through the Mid & South Essex endoscopy training scheme.
Main duties of the job
As a clinical expert in the field, you will be the named clinician for patients allocated to your case load within MSE and will fulfil the 4 domains of the Consultant role:
1. Advanced and expert level practice within their field
2. Professional leadership and consultancy
3. Development and provision of education and training
4. Practice and service development, research and evaluation
In this senior role you will demonstrate expert, high quality, values based professional practice that improves patient experience, across services, systems and at local level within the clinical setting. You will be required to provide highly expert clinical guidance and leadership across nursing and AHP disciplines, and to be a role model for safe, effect and high-quality care for our patients and service users within Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, including adult day cases.
You will provide clinical leadership and role modelling to Nursing and Allied Health professional colleagues across the organisation, in our mission to ensure that our general patient population is enabled to achieve the highest possible levels of good health, ability, and independence.

Essential criteria
- Registrant with HCPC or NMC
- Master's Degree in Advanced clinical practice (or equivalent)
- JAG accreditation (Upper and Lower) clinical practice
- Non-medical prescribers course
Desirable criteria
- PG Teaching qualification
- MPhil / PhD
- JAG accredited BCSP Colonoscopy
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in independent practice as CE
- Development of research expertise, knowledge and practice
- Facilitating change across professions, producing innovative practice
