Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Patient Services Assistant ( Basildon Site Only)
As a Patient Services Assistant you will be responsible for working with the ward/dept. team to develop and maintain the patient environment by:
The day-to-day upkeep of the cleanliness in specific area as set out in the cleaning schedule.
These areas may include ward areas, clinical areas, hospital corridors and associated areas across the Basildon & Thurrock Hospital sites.
Providing a helpful and courteous beverage and meal service to meet the needs of the patients and all service users within the unit.

Main duties of the job
- Assist patients with menu selection, taking into account medical/ dietary/cultural and/or religious/ choices, ensuring appropriate meals are ordered.
- To check that correct orders, including special diets, are received on the meal trolley
- Work closely with the ward staff/ housekeeper/ hostess to ensure that all patients’ dietary needs are met
- Undertake preparation and presentation of meals and distribute out to patients accordingly
- Clear trays
- Report any problems to the Nurse in Charge.
- Liaise fully with the Catering Department and Nurse in Charge to facilitate seamless catering service at ward level.
- To be familiar with and observe the Catering Department’s “Codes of Practice” Policy Manual.
- Attend training courses and meetings as required
- Adhere to the Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations 1995.
- To report all environmental issues to the Estates Helpdesk and complete the 1234 Book at ward level.
