Mid & South Essex Foundation Trust is looking for a Consultant Radiologists with a special interest in Interventional Radiology to join our team.

Applications are invited  to join the friendly, dynamic radiology team at the MSE Trust. The post supports the MSE wide emergency interventional radiology service based at Basildon,  non-urgent work will also be carried out at Basildon University Hospital.  The successful candidate may be required to support the work of our other hospitals as part of our team approach.

Main duties of the job

Deliver a diagnostic and interventional radiology service of high quality.

  • Contribute to development of the general and specialist imaging service to support the Trust in ensuring provision of high quality diagnostic support throughout the week including sessions in ultrasound & cross-sectional imaging.
  • Work flexibly with colleagues to support the timely management of emergencies and inpatients.
  • Undertake an appropriate share of the on-call rota for diagnostic radiology.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical meetings (MDT).
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical protocols.
  • Ensure that standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, evidence- based research and appraisal

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

A broad range of vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology procedures are undertaken within the IR department which include, but are not limited to; peripheral angioplasty/stenting, embolisation, vascular access procedures, urological/biliary stenting, gastrostomy and GI stenting.  The more complex arterial procedures are carried out at the Basildon hub.

A supra-regional multidisciplinary service for the treatment of adults and children with vascular malformations is based at MEHT. Interventional radiology and plastic surgery lead the vascular malformation team with shared outpatient clinics. Sclerotherapy, embolisation and hybrid IR/surgical procedures are performed within IR.

  • Professionally registered with CCT date (or equivalent)
  • Fellowship in IR or equivalent experience

  • Completion of specialist training (or equivalent) evidencing IR as special interest
  • Evidence of teaching / training / coaching junior staff and colleagues
  • Audit experience
  • Experience leading on development projects

  • Interest in Research - evidenced through previous experience in work history and/or supporting information
