Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

 

Job overview

We are seeking a reliable and flexible individual to join our Grounds and Gardens team. You will carry out routine and planned maintenance duties as directed by the Senior Grounds and Gardens Officer and the EFM site senior team.

Duties include garden and grounds maintenance, litter collection and emptying bins, path and car park cleaning, minor maintenance to outdoor furniture, and winter gritting and snow clearance. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and contributing to a comprehensive site-wide service.

Main duties of the job

  • Carry out planned and requisition maintenance requests to all grounds and gardens
  • Ensure main entrances are litter-free, swept and power-washed when required, change outdoor bins daily. 
  • Strim, mow and prune according to seasonal demands
  • Use and maintain petrol driven and electric machinery and equipment including mowers, blowers, and sweepers.
  • Report all defects to the Facilities Helpdesk so relevant trades can be arranged to repair/make-good.
