Main duties of the job
- Conduct expert physiotherapy assessments and design management programs for patients with complex neurological conditions, exercising a high degree of autonomy.
- Collaborate closely with band 7 specialist ward physiotherapists and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure that physiotherapy rehabilitation and treatment are fully integrated into the patient's care and discharge planning.
- Serve as a source of expertise on the physiotherapy management of patients with neurological deficits, providing guidance to consultant physicians, patients, caregivers, physiotherapists at all levels, other healthcare professionals, general practitioners, and social services.
- Carry out all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, working without direct supervision.
- Attend multidisciplinary and multi-agency meetings as necessary, ensuring that pathways of care are integrated through effective communication and referrals to other agencies as needed.
- Educate and train senior and junior physiotherapists, assistants, undergraduate students, adaptation students, and other healthcare professionals in the management of patients with neurological conditions and strokes.
- Participate in the therapy weekend service rota and the on-call rota.
- Lead the implementation of local clinical governance initiatives and clinical audits, presenting findings at integrated meetings as appropriate.

Essential criteria
- HCPC registration
- Degree in Physiotherapy
Desirable criteria
- Relevant Post graduate qualification
- Completed basic bobath course
- Registered with CSP
- Registered with ACPIN
Experience
Essential criteria
- Acute Experience at Bnad-6 level in stroke and/ or Neuro
- Supervising and mentoring juniors
- Experience of respiratory management
- Experience of service development
