Are you an enthusiastic and experienced Obstetric Sonographer looking to take your skills in a new and inspiring direction?

We’re offering an exciting 12‑month fixed‑term opportunity to join our team as an Ultrasound Clinical Tutor, supporting the development of the next generation of ultrasound practitioners within our growing Ultrasound Academy.

In this rewarding role, you will play a central part in delivering high‑quality clinical teaching, supervision, and assessment, working closely with academic partners, clinical teams, and students. Your expertise will help create a positive, supportive learning environment where learners can build confidence, competence, and safe clinical practice across a wide range of ultrasound examinations.

This role is ideal for a motivated practitioner with a passion for education, professional development, and shaping exceptional learning experiences. You will contribute to curriculum delivery, mentor students in the clinical setting, and help ensure our training programmes align with professional standards and service needs.

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical teaching, supervision and mentorship specially for obstetric training. 

Support learners in developing competency and confidence and safe clinical practice in line with professional standards and the  fetal anatomy screening programme (FASP).

Assess student performance, complete competency documentation, and contribute to formal evaluations. 

Work collaboratively with the existing clinical tutor academic staff and clinical teams to ensure high quality learning experiences

Assist in the organisation of clinical training lists student placement ensuring appropriate supervision and learning opportunities.

Contribute to and organise the delivery of ultrasound education materials, teaching sessions and workshops.

Participate in quality assurance of teaching activities including reviewing clinical training processes and supporting service improvement

Maintain accurate records of teaching activities, student progress and any concerns regarding performance of conduct.

Ensure adherence to local policies, governance, and patient safety procedures.

  • DQASS acredited sonographer
  • Completed CASE accredited Post granduate Certifcate in Obstetrics and gynaecology
Desirable criteria
  • CASE acredited Masters in Ultrasound or Education

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable previous NHS experience in medical ultrasound scanning obstetrics and gynaecology
  • Previous mentoring experience of student sonographers
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in education
