Are you a passionate and experienced Technical Services Technician looking for a rewarding opportunity? Join our dedicated team, where you’ll play an essential role in providing high-quality aseptic and pre-packing services to meet the needs of both our trust and external customers.
We are looking for someone that is either a registered pharmacy Technician or a qualified Science manufacturing technician / working towards qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and dispense aseptic products, including chemotherapy and intravenous additives, in our MHRA specials licence approved units.
Supply pre-packs to meet the needs of the trust and external stakeholders.
Assist in the training and development of team members, supporting the Lead Technician with the training and revalidation processes.
Expectations:
Participate in departmental evening, weekend, and bank holiday rotas when required.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the aseptic and prepacking services.

Main duties of the job
- Supporting senior staff with prioritising the supply of medicines.
- Be responsible for the management of the day-to-day operation of the pre-packing unit.
- Participating in the compounding of all aseptic preparations, using isolator technology.
- Preparing and calculating worksheets.
- Undertaking transcription, calculation and reconciliation checks on manufacturing documents.
- Maintaining competencies in compounding, assembly, labelling, and accuracy checking.
- Inspecting, labelling and final compound checking of batch stock items for release under the licence.
- Carrying out all necessary pre-work equipment and production checks, investigating and rectifying, notifying the unit manager of any faults or deviations.
- Completing environmental testing duties.
- Participating on the rota to work weekends, early and late starts/finishes and around bank holidays and service visits.
- Cross site working as necessary.
- Be responsible for minimising drug wastage.
- Co-ordinating and overseeing the work of less experienced staff within the unit.
- Acting as a cleanroom supervisor.
- Planning and organising straightforward activities on a day-to-day basis.
- Supporting the Lead Technician and Specialist Technician with the training of staff.

Essential criteria
- NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services
- GCSE english
- GCSE maths
- NVQ level 3 in pharmacy services or Science manufacturing technician / working towards
Desirable criteria
- Registration with GPHC or Science council
