Rotational Physiotherapist

Band 5

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

Job overview

Our Basildon team is looking for a Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our therapy teams.

As a department we provide strong Band 7 & 8a Physiotherapy leadership in all specialities to support new starters in a 6-month probationary programme offering a robust induction and helping them settle into our teams.

We provide a training and competency structure for all equipment, on-call and weekend working to support staff development. We provide monthly rotation specific in-service training, regular accountability as well as offering a range of role specific training opportunities and a variety of rotations

As a Trust we recognise the individual development needs of our staff and so offer static band 5 positions to support physiotherapists who have identified their ideal career pathway, as well as offering traditional rotational positions.

This post would suit a newly qualified or qualifying physiotherapist who is seeking to commence their career in a friendly and supportive environment.

So, if that sounds like you, we want to hear from you today!

Main duties of the job

If successful, you will have responsibility for assessing and treating your own caseload of patients and maintaining the associated records. As an autonomous practitioner you will be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, delegating as appropriate to support workers.

Regular supervision is provided by experienced band 6 and 7 therapists and takes the form of formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, caseload discussion and formal clinical supervision sessions. The structure of the therapy teams at Southend ensures that there is always access to advice and support from a senior therapist.

The role involves active participation in the weekend/bank holiday working rotas and on-call service, once the required training has been competed.

Working for our organisation

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
