Job overview
We are looking for a organised self-starter to provide efficient administration and secretarial duties within our Respiratory Department at Basildon Hospital.
If you're a people person this role could be the right fit for you as you'll be the main contact for our Respiratory patients.
You'll also provide administration support and liaise with departments across the Trust, general practitioners, patients, relatives and visitors, resolving queries as appropriate.

Main duties of the job
Your role will involve co-ordinating, monitoring and initiating appropriate changes within administrative processes along the patient pathway to ensure the patient’s journey is managed efficiently, smooth and in accordance with targets and agreed timescales and utilising computerised tracking systems to locate case notes and investigation results.
You will be liaising with teams outside of the speciality e.g. GP’s where appropriate to ensure a seamless patient journey and monitoring work lists for Choose and Book to monitor Consultant workflow and escalate to Operational Managers if and where necessary.
As a Patient Pathway Co-Ordinator you will navigate patients through their care pathway, from point of referral to treatment, using hospital IT systems to find information on the patient pathway, including PAS systems, endoscopy systems, medical records, histology reporting systems etc
Your general administrate duties will include courteously and efficiently receive telephone enquiries from patients, carers and external agencies in relation to hospital admissions, receiving and processing incoming correspondence, paper and electronic, ensuring it reaches the appropriate place with the required deadlines and maintain an accurate and up to date filing system (manual and electronic), ensuring accuracy of patient case notes.
