Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.
We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.
Job overview
A rare opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, enthusiastic and motivated Dietetic team. We have a strong ethos of support, leadership and collaboration. We have recently experienced a lot of internal promotions and have welcomed back old staff members that missed working with such a fantastic group of people. We have regular social events including shared lunches, summer picnics, baking competitions and holiday quizzes.
We are committed to supporting ongoing personal and professional development of our staff and you would be provided with regular CPD opportunities. The Department is dedicated to student training and staff preceptorship therefore you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in these.
This exciting opportunity is ideally suited to a Band 5 dietitian looking for their first Band 6 role or a Band 6 looking to gain experience and skills in different specialist areas. This opportunity has been made possible due to career progression.
We are a department that supports flexible working and welcomes your application. Working at Basildon Hospital would entitle you to the additional 5% HCA fringe benefit.
Main duties of the job
This post will enable you to further develop your skills in nutrition support, over a range of specialties, commencing in renal medicine. Through the rotations you will also gain experience in the specialties of stroke, surgical (including parenteral nutrition), gastroenterology, cardiothoracics (including critical care), respiratory medicine, and oncology.
In these rotations, you will be able to provide input into the various MDT services and into specialist acute care. You will develop your dietetics skills in each specialty, including parenteral nutrition, and transferable skills will be enhanced in each rotation you undertake thereafter.
We are a large proactive team of dietitians that strives for continual improvement in the services we provide. There will be the opportunity for you to get involved with projects, audits and service developments. We provide dietetic student placements and there will be a chance for you to participate in student learning and development. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to support preceptorship of newly-qualified Band 5 dietitians.
We are committed to supporting the ongoing personal and professional development of our staff and offer excellent training and development opportunities. Including dedicated CPD time and access to external training courses.
Working for our organisation
Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.
