Here is an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Specialist – Cardiothoracic Surgery.

You will be covering cardiac and thoracic surgery and managing the virtual ward. Working alongside the cardiac and thoracic surgeons to optimise patients on the elective and emergency pathway. Pre assessment of patients pre surgery

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Your primary responsibility is the direct management of patient problems in collaboration and consultation with the Senior cardiothoracic and anaesthetic Team. The post holder will work as part of the cardiothoracic surgical team. this will include facilitating patient discharge and reducing length of stay by providing expert clinical advice and leadership in the cardiothoracic surgical setting.

You will initiate and participate in research/audit, development of policies and procedures, clinical supervision of junior multi-disciplinary team members, and specialist teaching within the department/location.

  • Clinical skill and Assessment
  • Non medical prescribing course

Experience

  • 2 years experience in cardiothoracic surgery
