An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy Team at Provide Community Interest Company (CIC), based at Braintree Community Hospital. Working under the supervision of qualified Physiotherapists, you will support the delivery of rehabilitation programmes for patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, through both individual and group-based rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

                   Work under the management of Physiotherapists within the Musculoskeletal Therapy Team and be responsible for the effective management of own caseload.

                   Assess, plan and implement rehabilitation programmes to a delegated patient caseload, working towards SMART rehabilitation goals.

                   Deliver rehabilitation to people in the most appropriate clinical and community setting for example, outpatient clinical setting, exercise classes, gym environment or virtually.

                   Assess response to therapy programmes and make judgements about appropriate action, adapting intervention to meet the clinical need or identifying when input from a registered clinician is required.

                  Implement agreed tailored exercise and other therapy programmes to enable the patient to achieve their rehabilitation goals.

                   Provide advice and education to optimise health, wellbeing and to promote better self- management of a condition.    

                   To accept delegated patients from Physiotherapists and deliver treatment      programmes according to agreed care plans, protocols and clinical guidelines.

                   To work independently within defined competencies while maintaining regular communication with the supervising Physiotherapist and wider MSK team

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social care, Therapy Support, Rehab or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of relevant continuing professional development and training
Desirable criteria
  • Care Certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working as a Therapy Assistant, Physiotherapy Assistant, Rehabilitation Assistant or similar role within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience supporting patients with exercise programmes and rehabilitation activities.
  • Experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working within an MSK Physiotherapy service.
  • Experience leading exercise classes or rehabilitation groups.
  • Experience undertaking delegated follow-up appointments.
  • Experience using SystmOne or other NHS electronic patient record systems.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and rehabilitation principles.
  • Understanding of the role and responsibilities of Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants.
  • Awareness of professional boundaries and when to seek support from a registered clinician.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of behaviour change techniques and self-management approaches.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic patient record systems.
  • Ability to deliver exercise programmes in both one-to-one and group settings.
Desirable criteria
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
