Soon to be qualifying Occupational Therapist, or already registered? We have an exciting opportunity to join the Mid Essex Community Mental Health Occupational Therapy team.
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Occupational therapist with an interest in working with those with serious mental health conditions and developing their practise in a friendly and supportive team environment.
The post is based at the Gables (Braintree) and the post holder will be part of the the Mid Essex Community Mental Health OT Team.
The OT team serves the Specialist Mental Health Teams in secondary care based at The Gables (Braintree) and the C&E Centre (Chelmsford) and supports community dwelling adults with serious mental illness who require a higher level of mental health support than can be provided at primary care (GP) level.
Main duties of the job
We work with individuals who are experiencing occupational deprivation and reduced functioning due to their mental health difficulties. Presentations seen include, but not restricted to: Anxiety, Bi-Polar Disorder, Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder, Depression, and Schizophrenia.
Working as part of the Occupational Therapy team alongside the wider multidisciplinary locality mental health team, you will be responsible for supporting the individual to identify how their current mental health challenges impact upon their daily functioning, help identify their individual strengths, needs and goals, and establish appropriate treatment interventions to support them within their rehabilitation.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be part of a small, skilled and supportive OT team that delivers a variety of therapeutic interventions, aimed towards helping individuals manage their mental health and support them through their recovery journey.
You will be part of the Trust wide Occupational Therapy service provision, which has a strong professional leadership. Offering a Band 5 development forum, Trust wide preceptorship and direct professional supervision and management; and a wide selection of in house and external developmental opportunities
