Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The models fundamental belief is that service users and their networks are capable of self-agency. Good support is given to empower service users to identify areas of need, their individual feelings, concerns, strengths and possible solutions. Support is then given to consider how these can be shared with the wider network and how they will manage potential conflicts to enable this to happen effectively. Ownership is given to the family group to achieve this for themselves. The purpose being that coming together will improve both understanding and relationships in order to be able to move forward with recovery management, planning and motivation, but also build on the strengths of the network to continue to be able to problem solve together once professionals withdraw.
Recruitment will be open to all qualified health/social care professionals. Teams will be provided with training on the model prior to recruitment. The practitioners will be part of the Ward staff team teams but will have additional support/supervision from the established Adult MHFGC service in EPUT. You will receive training in the Family group conference model and then be using this to support service users and their families to come together in crisis presentations to develop their own management and support plans within the inpatient service.
We are looking for a motivated person, who is able to work well under pressure, whilst upholding the principles of empowerment and realising the view that the Involvement of carers/relatives/wider network of support & the provision of support are key components to management of crisis and recovery.
