Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

 

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to join our respiratory and surgical team at Broomfield Hospital. The successful candidate will work across critical care, surgical and respiratory wards and will have the opportunity to be involved with our amputee service

You will join a supportive and friendly team, with opportunities for professional development, close managerial support, and an opportunity to be involved in service change and improvement.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide the highest standards of Physiotherapy across critical care, respiratory and surgery wards as well as supporting the amputee service.
  • Work as an advanced autonomous practitioner.  Assess, sets goals, provides treatment and progresses own patient caseload which contains patients with complex and specialist needs.
  • Lead in specialist area; contributes to development of specialist services and relevant policies helping implement policy changes and monitoring standards of clinical practice.
  • Supervise, teach and evaluate students and junior staff working in own specialist area.
  • Leads clinical audits and may participate in research.

Education

Essential criteria
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards a post-graduate qualification relevant to the post
  • CSP registered

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous Surgical and Amputee experience
  • Critical Care experience
  • Has worked at band 6 or 7 level in an NHS hospital
  • Experience of supervising and appraising band 5/6 staff
Desirable criteria
  • Audit, research or service development experience
