We have an exciting opportunity for an 8a Psychologist to join the expanded Mental Health Liaison team based at Broomfield Hospital to cover maternity leave. We welcome applications from psychologists who are newly qualified, as well as from those with more experience. Please contact us for an informal discussion if you have any questions about the role.

The successful applicant will form part of the Clinical Health Psychology Services across Essex. We have four other Mental Health Liaison Psychological Services in Harlow, Basildon, Southend and Colchester, where there is a network of highly motivated, experienced Clinical and Counselling Psychologist colleagues. The applicant will be working within the CORE 24 model of Mental Health Liaison, looking to support service users and staff to consider the psychological aspects of health. This role requires an ability to create connections with services across physical and mental health providers and to be able to support holistic, system wide thinking. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

This post introduces psychological assessment, intervention, consultation and support to the Mental Health Liaison team, consisting of Liaison Psychiatry and Psychiatric Nurses. This post is part of a service which has been established for several years. The role is welcomed by Broomfield Hospital and there will be opportunity for working across wards and specialty areas.

Alongside the inpatient work there are opportunities to work in the hospital through teaching and training, as part of the CORE 24 agenda, supporting  teams to develop knowledge in areas such as, people who present with medically unexplained symptoms and complex care needs, to support a more holistic care pathway.

The Clinical Health Psychology Services are for adults who are experiencing difficulties adjusting to serious chronic illness and other physical health conditions, such as Pain, Stroke, Breathlessness, and Long COVID.

Regular supervision will be provided by a senior Counselling Psychologist. Peer supervision is offered from other Mental Health Liaison Psychologists in Basildon, Harlow and Southend, involvement in the Mental Health Liaison SIG and through wider CHPS colleagues. EPUT is committed to the development of our staff; to ensuring job satisfaction; good quality output; and staff retention. CPD is strongly supported by the Trust with further development actively encouraged.

  • Is able to demonstrate a desire and/or understanding of liaison working
  • Demonstrates knowledge of working with systems
