Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

 

Job overview

We are looking for our new Head of Nursing for Breast Services to join our team. 

 

If successful you will work across three outpatient services, and drive the delivery of a high quality breast screening service across Essex (South Essex and the Chelmsford/Colchester screening services). 

 

You will act as a professional resource and adviser, providing support and guidance on all matters concerning patient’s including the protection of the vulnerable. Ensuring that professional and practice developments within services meets national, local, and organisational priorities in relation to service modernisation, service delivery, clinical governance and leadership and will ensure that statutory procedures are appropriately managed and delivered.

Main duties of the job

If successful, you will be based at Broomfield Hospital but travel and support all three local hospital site teams.

You will be responsible and accountable for the daily nursing teams delivery of high quality breast services in the out patient department.

As an autonomous clinical nurse specialist you will run high risk clinics to support the delivery of our service.  

As part of the Breast Service leadership team you will represent the service across the MSE and be an excellent clinical role model, deputising for the Associate Director of Nursing as necessary.

To take part in the trust-wide on call Rota, major incident, and capacity escalation

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Independent Nurse Practitioner
  • Advanced Communication Module
  • Qualification in management or leadership or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience at senior level in a clinical role which included an element of Quality Governance and risk Management.
  • Evidence of clinical / operational management at band 8a or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of implementing change within the clinical role
  • Experience of managing a budget and implementing cost improvements
  • Delivery of the governance program, including management of complaints, incidents and pals
  • Demonstrates managing people and dealing with conflict
