Cancer Navigator - MSE Breast

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

Job overview
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dedicated and enthusiastic Breast Cancer Pathway Coordinator to join our Breast Team.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to clinical, nursing and admin teams across the Trust, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of our service.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent organisational skills, a confident telephone manner, and strong IT proficiency. Knowledge of cancer pathways and targets is essential.
Please note that the role is based across MSE and requires working with breast pathways and teams across the MSE
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for delivering an effective administrative service to the Breast Teams. You will liaise with the multidisciplinary team, internal departments, and external agencies to ensure seamless coordination and excellence in patient care.
Your support will be crucial to the clinical team, MDT team, Operational Managers, and Patient Access Team, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective care while maintaining compliance with cancer waiting time targets. This role includes scheduling appointments and attending the weekly Cancer PTL meetings, as well as MDT meetings

- To hold GCSE Maths & English Grade C or above, or equivalent certificate
- Significant previous administrative experience within a healthcare setting
- Up to date knowledge and understanding of cancer targets and pathway

- Previous experience of working within breast service or cancer service
- Sound knowledge of medical terminology

- Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills including telephone, email, face to face with both staff and patients

- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
