Broomfield Hospital – Cardiology Services
Are you an experienced and forward-thinking Physiologist ready to take on a senior leadership role? We’re seeking a professional and dynamic Principal Cardiac Physiologist to lead our service at Broomfield Hospital.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Operations and the Cardiology Clinical Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational delivery of our Cardiology service — ensuring excellence in performance, quality, and financial outcomes.
As Centre Manager, you’ll provide clinical and strategic leadership, drive innovation, and support the long-term development of the department in alignment with the Trust’s strategic objectives and Integrated Business Planning.
This is a high-impact role requiring exceptional interpersonal skills, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care. You will be a key decision-maker, responsive to the daily needs of the service while shaping its future direction.

Main duties of the job
Will lead and develop the service with responsibility for business planning, budget management and staff management, to enable delivery of access, activity, finance, staff performance, staff development and quality targets
Will provide direct operational leadership to the Cardiology Department, the post holder will be responsible to, and support the Divisional Management Team in the achievement of all operational and clinical governance objectives and KPI's.
Ensure that the highest standards of clinical care are continuously delivered while delivering cost improvement and productivity schemes to support the wider Trust agenda
Be responsible for achievement of national and local service targets in conjunction with Deputy Director; monitor performance against targets, identify areas of concern and take remedial and preventative action as appropriate putting in place plans to improve performance where required
As a senior manager, the post holder will join the senior manager on call manager rota and help support the running of the main site.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Relevant degree or equivalent or portfolio of evidence equivalent in clinical physiology
- Professional Accreditation
- Qualification in management or leadership or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working across regions or nationally on clinical governance / quality improvement initiatives
Knowledge and Experiance
Essential criteria
- Effective clinical / operational management at band 8 or equivalent
- Involvement in clinical ‘best practice’ initiatives
- Budget planning and management
Communication
Essential criteria
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy
- Ability to develop robust solutions to complex problems
- Ability to work effectively across organisational and professional boundaries
