Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner.

You will  carry out a variety of nutrition related tasks under the supervision and direction of the dietitians.

You will  undertake administrative and clerical duties that assist the dietitians clinical work, supporting the Adult Dietetic Team.

Main duties of the job

The role involves supporting dietitians in delivering dietetic care plans for both in‑patients and outpatients, ensuring that nutritional guidance is followed effectively. It requires close liaison with catering teams to arrange appropriate special diets and nutritional supplements, as directed by the dietitians.

The post holder will also communicate with pharmacy and relevant pharmaceutical companies regarding the provision of nutritional feeds and supplements. With guidance from dietitians, the role includes contributing to the education of nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team on nutrition screening and basic nutrition support. 

Additionally, the post holder is responsible for updating and maintaining dietetic resources as required by the dietitians to ensure accurate and current information is available.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE level qualification or equivalent in Maths, English & Science at level 4 or higher
  • Education to minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification at level 3 or higher in Nutrition

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in the acute healthcare setting as a support worker or assistant
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Dietetics e.g. assistant, support worker

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • In-depth knowledge of MUST Pathway
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of dietetic assistant competencies and completion
