Domestic Services Supervisor

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills who is dedicated to working as part of our friendly team.

To participate and control all aspects of the Domestic Departments Service Level Agreements and support the total domestic operational service delivery model by ensuring that works are carried out by domestic staffs to their job specifications. you will be required to monitor quality services are being provided at all times whilst promoting good business relationships between Management and Staff and supporting the patient experience.

Working within the MSE Domestic Services Team, you will have access to the best in class training in this field which will enable you to develop your skillset.

If successful, you will  become part of a hardworking, determined and forward thinking team, supporting in driving efficiencies across the trust within Domestic Services to ensure the best patient experience is provided at all times.

Main duties of the job

Ensuring that cleaning duties and frequencies are carried out based on the 50 elements as specified by the National Specification for Cleanliness Standards (NSC).

Ensuring that their areas, wards and departments are ready to be audited at any time

Participating in daily joint cleaning audits, ensuring all quality monitoring is conducted in line with Trust policy and ensuring rectification plans are completed in a timely manner.

Participating in a 7 day week management rota as scheduled and approved by management

Understanding of Domestic Service Level Agreements between the Estates & Facilities Business unit, wards, departments and satellite buildings to ensure services are delivered accordingly and in a cost effective manner.

Managing a diverse team and resolving any team related issues.

Responsible in ensuring that all staff maintain a clean and safe environment for all patients, visitors and staff members

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable previous cleaning experience
  • English and Maths GCSE’s level 4 or equivalent level of education
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 3 in cleaning or equivalent experience
  • Intermediate numeracy, literacy, and IT skills (i.e. handheld PDA).

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communication and analytical skills. Able to work effectively within a team environment
  • Able to lead groups of people
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to deputise for domestic management at various meetings
  • Trained to British Institute of Cleaning Science
