Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.
We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

Mid and South Essex Hospital Trust are looking to recruit a full time driver to work within the Transport Department, located at Broomfield Hospital. You may on occasion be asked to start from Basildon Hospital, Braintree Community Hospital or St Peters Hospital.
This role is on a fixed term basis, for three days per week working flexibly on the below shifts:
07:00 - 15:00
08:00 - 16:00
09:00 - 17:00
15:00 - 23:00
You will be able to drive a Luton van, with a tail lift around the Essex area on both planned and adhoc routes. This role requires safe manual handling and lifting of items.
Main duties of the job
- Collect and deliver various medical items on scheduled routes and adhoc routes in the Essex area. This includes but is not exclusive to Specimens, Medication, Patient Records, Post and machinery
- Collect and deliver sterile services equipment, both clean and dirty
- Responsible for refuelling vehicles and carrying out basic vehicle mechanical checks, at least once per week, covering oil, fuel, brake fluid, water, tyres, lighting, windscreen wipers/washers, batteries, changing tyres, maintain vehicle in a clean state inside and out and reporting accident damage
- Drive safely to national legal requirement
- To deliver training to new starters within the Transport department
