We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for a  Charge Nurse.  If you would like to develop your leadership skills,  we would love you to join our Respiratory and Acute Medical ward team.

Your role will be to provide a high standard of individualised care to patients, acting as a role model and supporting the Senior Sister/Charge nurse in driving quality care provision forward whilst being responsible for standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area in partnership with the Charge Nurse and providing clear clinical leadership to staff, deputising for the Senior Charge Nurse in their

Main duties of the job

You will have a sound clinical knowledge of the unique clinical needs of medical patients and a desire to deliver the right treatment in the right place at the right time.

You will need to demonstrate specialist expertise and professional knowledge acquired through post registration academic study, clinical, leadership and management development, working and acting as a role model for professional practice and leadership.

In addition to your clinical expertise, you will have an interest in developing your leadership style, people management expertise in conjunction with the HR team along with excellent inspiring communication skills.

You will be committed to leading by example, encouraging and empowering your team along with all members of the MDT to ensure consistently high standards of care are set and delivered.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse on part 1 or 12 of the NMC register
Desirable criteria
  • Post-qualification experience in Respiratory
  • Evidence of mentoring staff /students

  • Able to use a systematic step by step approach for patient assessment and ability to anticipate and plan for next stages of care, underpinned by clear rationale
  • Demonstrate ability to organise and prioritise own workload and that of junior colleagues

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrate ability to provide high quality patient care with minimal supervision and present a professional image, which inspires confidence
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
