Job overview

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic senior pharmacist to contribute to the care of patients admitted to our medical specialties.

You will be joining a friendly and well respected team working across the  Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford (part of Mid and South Essex Hospitals NHS Trust).

The pharmacy department at Broomfield Hospital is a professional, forward thinking department which gives all staff the opportunity to develop their full potential.

Main duties of the job

You will be based at the Broomfield Hospital site, will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, and will work to provide excellent care to patients in acute medicine.

You will help to improve patient care through effective medicines reconciliation and medicines optimisation. The role will also include ensuring protocols and guidelines are in line with local and national objectives to ensure cost-effective and safe prescribing within the department.

You will have excellent communication and negotiating skills working closely with patients and multi-professional teams throughout the site. You will be able to work under pressure and alone with excellent prioritisation skills.

You will ideally be (or working towards being) a qualified independent prescriber having achieved a minimum of a clinical diploma in pharmacy practice.

You will work alongside another Lead Pharmacist for medical specialties to deliver strategic support to the clinical pharmacy team, and will deputise for the Clinical Lead Pharmacist - Acute and Emergency Care.

The role will also include an allocated area of responsibility within the pharmacy education and training team.

The successful applicant will contribute to the 7 day clinical pharmacy service to the site, which will involve working weekends (8am to 4pm) with flexible days off during the week in return
