Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.
We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.
Job overview
The Safeguarding Administrator provides essential administrative support to the healthcare organisation’s safeguarding arrangements, ensuring robust systems are in place to protect children, young people, and adults at risk.
The role supports clinical and non-clinical staff in the safeguarding team, Working closely with the Safeguarding Lead, and external agencies. The Safeguarding Administrator helps ensure safeguarding concerns are managed efficiently, confidentially, and in a timely manner, contributing to safe.
Main duties of the job
To support and strengthen effective safeguarding practice across healthcare services, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients. To maintain accurate, secure and compliant safeguarding records in line with regulatory and organisational requirements. To facilitate timely reporting, monitoring and assurance of safeguarding activity, supporting robust governance and continuous improvement.

Person specification
Previous experience in administartive or clerical role
Essential criteria
- Understanding of importance of accurate record keeping and Information Governance
- Competent IT Skills, including Microsoft office and electronic systems
- GCSE Maths and English
- Experience using electronic patient record system
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
- High level of attention to accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to take minutes during meetings.
Experience in an administrative role within healthcare or a similar regulated environment
Essential criteria
- Basic understanding of Safeguarding children and adults at risk
- Strong Organisational skills- time management
- Competent IT Skills, including Microsoft office and electronic systems.
Desirable criteria
- Ability to minute meetings
- Experience using electronic patient record system
